Happy Thanksgiving! We had a mellow holiday yesterday – I did some gardening out in the rain and the boys stayed inside most of the day. To give myself a break from cooking, we had sushi and I made a pecan pumpkin pie and Tarte Tatin for dessert. I gave some of my California roll to Marshall and to my surprise he quickly ate his serving. He also helped me finish my dessert :^) without any problems at all!
On my way back from getting my car’s oil changed yesterday I stopped at 99 Ranch to pick up some noodle dish ingredients. My usual purchase at the bakery section is a pineapple taro bun (there isn’t pineapple but it’s a style of topping on the bun) but they stopped making them there a while back. Instead I picked up a BBQ pork bun for Marc, and two red bean pineapple buns for Marshall and myself. As I walked through the door I realized that the boys were hungry – it was a good thing I had picked up some buns on the way home. Marc was happy with his and Marshall really dug into his red bean bun. He was very serious about eating it, so much so that he wasn’t sharing it with the dogs! I may have to experiment with making my own or even making the taro ones because these seemed to be very processed. Stay tuned…
